Shuja Moore

Shuja Moore, a passionate filmmaker and community advocate from West Philadelphia, is dedicated to promoting narrative justice in media and empowering his community. Despite facing adversity at 22 with a conviction stemming from a life-altering incident, Shuja emerged from a 12-year prison sentence in 2016 with a determination to effect positive change. Since his release, he has played a pivotal role in securing over $1,000,000 in support for local businesses and residents. Shuja’s impactful work has earned him prestigious recognition, including being named a ‘Remodeled Citizen’ by the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Black Male Engagement and receiving the Community Service Award from the Division on People of Color and Crime at the American Society of Criminology.
